Please call us on 0117 910 9618 if you cannot find an answer to your question
The universal answer to most questions is "bring it down and we'll have a look"
Quite simply, when you book, you're booking an appointment for us to inspect your bike to determine the cost and lead time. Please note this does not mean the bike will be serviced as soon as you drop your bike in.
Yes—we're happy to work on bikes no matter where you bought them or what brand they are. Unlike some shops, we don’t require you to have purchased the bike from us to access our workshop services.
That said, there are a few important things to be aware of:
Bought a new bike online? Read this.
If your bike is less than 12 weeks old, we will carry out what’s known as a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) before working on it—this is standard in both the bicycle and automotive industries.
We’ve seen a sharp rise in high-end bikes bought online via certain cycle-to-work scheme providers. Unfortunately, many of these arrive poorly assembled, with little regard for safety or performance—we’re talking loose bolts, misaligned brakes, uncut steerer tubes, and other dangerous oversights. These issues can damage the bike, void warranties, or lead to serious injury.
Because of the risk and liability we take on when inspecting and correcting bikes that weren’t built properly, we charge a minimum of £60 or 5% of the bike’s advertised RRP (whichever is greater) for the inspection and safety check.
We’re not here to name names—but if you’re using a cycle-to-work scheme and have the choice between buying online or from a local independent dealer, please support your local bike shop, even if it's not us. You’ll get a properly built, safe bike—and you’ll be helping keep shops like ours alive.
With the exception of puncture repairs, this is not a service we offer. If you need your bike for work purposes, ask us if there is a courtesy bike available. If you need the bike to get home we can come and collect it from you instead
We offer fixed prices for our standard service packages, but outside of these, labour charges vary depending on the complexity and time required.
Our standard service packages:
For workshop jobs which don't require parts, our labour rates are:
Additional time or charges may apply if your bike has design features that are more time-consuming to work on, such as:
Standard labour pricing assumes that any required parts will be supplied by us. If you're supplying your own components, these jobs are charged at the above time-based rate, and may be scheduled after pre-booked work is completed.
Parts are charged in addition on an as-used basis. It's impossible to include parts in the pricing structure as every bike repair is different
Yes, you're welcome to bring your own parts—but there are a few important things to bear in mind.
We stock a wide range of quality parts and can usually get almost anything else by the next working day. We'd really appreciate your business on that front—especially as we often spot deals from our suppliers that are just as good as what you might find online. It’s always worth giving us a call before you click "checkout" elsewhere!
If you do choose to supply your own parts:
We may decline to fit certain parts if:
Speaking of tubeless—while we love a good setup, they can be messy, frustrating, and time-consuming. If you haven’t bought the tyres or sealant from us, we’re unlikely to be enthusiastic about fitting them, simply because it often ends up being more hassle than it’s worth.
We’re happy to take on small, one-off jobs—even if they’re not listed on our website. Things like a quick brake bleed or a wheel true are no problem in principle, but there are a few things to be aware of:
So yes—we can just. But we’ll do it properly, safely, and fairly, like we do with all our work.
Yes! However during busy periods, if we have no physical space to store your bike we may ask you to bring it back once we've cleared through any bikes waiting for collection. It's always good to get a look at a bike before we book it in so if its convenient for you we strongly encourage it
We ask that you collect your bike within two opening days of completion. If you need a little more time, we’re happy to be flexible—provided it’s communicated in advance.
However, if your bike is left with us for more than two weeks with no prior arrangement, we may begin to apply storage charges at our discretion.
But… there’s always that one type of customer. You know who you are.
Monday “Is it ready yet?" Tuesday "Is it ready yet?" Wednesday "Is it ready yet?”
Wednesday afternoon “Yes—it’s ready!”
“Great, I’ll pick it up in a couple of weeks.”
If that sounds familiar, just know: our discretion may not be so discretionary in those cases.
If a bike remains uncollected after six weeks, we reserve the right to sell it to recover the cost of the repair and any storage charges. If the sale exceeds the amount owed, we’ll return the difference—but storage fees will continue to accrue until the bike is sold.
And if you’re heading off travelling for a month or two, maybe hold off on that service booking until you're back.
Payment is accepted by card or cash upon collection of your bicycle.
For collection and delivery services, a deposit is required in advance. This deposit is fully deductible from the final cost of your repair or, if applicable, the purchase of a replacement bicycle.
We also accept payment for repairs via Cyclescheme and the Green Commute Initiative. Please contact us in advance if you wish to use either of these options, as additional paperwork may be required.
In some cases, we may request a £30 inspection fee, payable before assessment. This fee is credited against any repair work or the cost of a replacement bicycle. Circumstances where this may apply include (but are not limited to):
If we need to special-order parts, we may request a deposit to cover the cost of those items before proceeding.
Please note:
Contactless payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay may not be compatible with our payment system. To avoid delays, please bring a physical card and ensure you know your PIN.
Yes—we do! Unlike many workshops, we're insured to store and work on electric bikes, and we have plenty of experience doing so.
That said, there are a few important limitations:
What we can do:
If your e-bike has an electrical fault and it’s not from one of the systems listed above, we’re unlikely to be able to help—though we’re always happy to take a quick look and point you in the right direction if we can.
Not sure where your bike fits in? Feel free to bring it in and we’ll let you know what we can do.
For a start, thanks for your honesty. A lot of people do this, then don't tell us, which can make the job a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Please let us know as much as possible about the history of the bike before we undertake any work. This also applies if your mate/Dad/partner has had a go at it first or if you've bought the bike second hand
We understand that unexpected issues can arise at the worst possible time, and we’ll always do our best to help in a genuine emergency.
However, please be aware that during peak periods—especially in summer—our workshop can have a 4-week turnaround, with 30 or more bikes already in the queue. Most problems don’t appear overnight; they tend to build up over time, which is why we encourage routine servicing well in advance of any important plans.
If you require a priority turnaround, we may be able to accommodate your request, but please note the following:
In short: we’ll do what we can, but we ask for your understanding that urgent requests can impact other customers. For future reference, the best time to get your bike serviced is before you urgently need it.
Historically, bike shop labour rates have been kept low because workshops could rely on the sale of bikes, parts, and accessories to support the business. But as more parts are now purchased online, this model is no longer sustainable for many independent shops.
To ensure we can continue offering high-quality, skilled repairs, labour pricing may increase across the industry in the coming years to reflect the true cost of time, expertise, and tooling—especially when fewer parts are bought in-store.
We’ll always be clear and fair about our pricing, and we genuinely appreciate your support in helping keep independent workshops like ours going.
